Sakhi,as we know, this is Navaratri festival in
India.The Goddess Durga is worshipped by Hindus on all 9 days.The celebrations have already started  5 days ago.
Without Davi bhajans Navaratri festival remains incomplete.

Greta Thunberg the great!

Greta Thunberg the Great! Since last week this young girl has taken us all by surprise. Many of us know now about her efforts draw to help save environment. According to her, all the adults have so far ignored the on going macabre destruction of environment and now, children of the word are facing dire consequences. Very true. We elders, common people and the leaders from various countries have not created such great impactful movement to start a crusade for the environment. She reminds us, that it is not the job of kids like her. She says further that she should be in school, studying and playing. But unfortunately, she is addressing masses and travelling across the world to wake up the influencial people to work against climate change. Asks a 16 year old Swidish girl, why leaders have ignored the decaying of environment? The climate change?Her country is supporting her crusaide.They are broadminded enough to encourage a young girl to take a centre stage. Greta the great, dear, you are asking a valid question. The answer to your question lies in the fact that the leader of various countries have not fallen from the skies. They have risen from the masses. So they are as ordinary as the masses. Only if the leaders are afraid of people, they will do many meaningful jobs. They take people for granted. There is no demand from the people either for a better environment. A few are holding the torch. That is not spreading enough light. There is not much pressure from the public in this regard. Learder have to keep up to the expectations of the people. We have never demanded unitedly a clean environment. Instead we have contributed to further deterioration. Most of the common people are busy meeting other needs of life and are fulfilling different goals. Environmental issues are sacrificed meanwhile. Let everyone of us light a candle and see the path for ourselves. Let us save the environment, by starting the work right from our homes. Let us not throw garbage in the open. Let us not mix all sort of trash in one basket. Let us not in India immerse idols during Ganesh festival and Durga festivals. Every damage we do to the environment is slapped back at us. The common and the uncommen man both are suffering due to climate changes. We want to get away with the trash somehow that we create .We want to run vehicles that are vomiting pollution. We want to fulfill our religious sentiments at the cost of cleanliness. We are throwing garbage in the sea and the sea is tossing it all at us again. How much the leaders will teach the masses? The common people should be wary of dirt around them. Leaders will be afraid to lead nations where, there is an increased level of awareness among people in all matters; where there are responsible nationals who can scrutinise the policies of the leaders. But unfortunately we the people, are very timid and selfish too. We are least bothered about environmental goals. This is a very sad story, that we are set to destroy our own home. Greata Thunberg, I again thank you for the efforts that you have taken to awaken the half asleep word regarding environmental pollution.I admire your nation and salute people of your contry because they have acknowledged your effors. They did not ignore you and reprimand you for what you are doing. You told" no school on every Fridy;" and the school did not object to it. You could travel in a zero pollution boat to send across your message. All this is very laudable.Your mother does not care that she may not air travel to give her music programmes. Your school has not stopped you. Many children could join you dear.You have already delivered many speeches about the need for better climate change, and you are selling them. The money will be used for some similar cause.How many children have the freedom to do this? It is very heartening. Your supporters,the schoolmates have very early learnt the practical lessons of planning better strategies for a better future environment. Salute to you all. If you were in front of me, I would have hugged you. I am really very proud of you, that a girl of your age has sounded such strong message. And that message is reaching all the corners of the world. My heart is filled with motherly love for you. Let many girls and boys of your age believe in what you have said. Let them participate at their level in the movement to save the environment. Since the older generation has failed to preserve the purity of our earth, let the new generation give a lesson to moms and dads. It is a different question off course that many children of your age may not be allowed to do what you are doing. Such endeavours on part of youngsters may not see the light of the day in all corners of the world. We are too dictatorial a society to allow children to take a lead. Yet It is high time that we all wake up and consider changing the way of life. Let us stop dirtying the earth. Let us use recyclable plastic, since banning plastic has its own side effects. If we do not wake up now, we the people of this earth may face dire consequences. Mankind may leave every other program and focus on cleaning garbage. At the top of all other priorities, there will be the garbage cleaning task bothering us all, at all the times.. Now we are dirtying the water bodies, the oceans. In future we will start targetting the universe. A scientist once told me, that the problems of man made trash may reach such levels that the space agencies will start focusing singularly on programmes for collecting garbage to throw in the space. Shuttles will be built specially for this purpose. Anything that enters the space, keeps travelling to grate distances. It does not come back. This ball of garbage released in to the outer space, will travel and travel and travel, deep inside the universe .It can go forward in some other galaxy. Some intelligent aliens will find it and will try to know about its source. This is how they will discover about earth. What message it will leave? Let such a day not see the light of the day.So let people understand the gravity of the issues that you have taken up little girl. Salute to you Greta.

New hope for Osteoarthritis patients.

Sakhi, Osteo arthritis is now a days the most complained of degenerative diseases. Several of the people all over the world are suffering from the joint problems. Ganapati Bappa, Build Mumbai's Roads Please

Since morning today I have been watching the television on and off. I am getting the updates that our Prime Minister Narendra  Modi’s plans of the day through the news channels. He was at Bangalore at 8 am. That was quite a news and the news channels again and again were repeating the scene of the ISRO Director crying on the shoulder of the Prime Minister. Scientific projects are ordained to be either successful or unsuccessful . Already there is lot of negativity when it comes to scientific research in our country. Little research is taking place at few select organisations. What should the other  scientists  oppointed  in government organisations say then? They should not stop crying over the lack of opportunities for research. ISRO is very fortunate. They could atleast attempt to do something. Other organisations are waiting for such opportunity.  What about the scientists who just do not exist for government? Are they sitting there to waste their education? The private sector is so wary of the  fruitless scientific research, it prefers to stay miles away from science. We have  a very  backward attitude towards science. Businessmen and politician alike, no one likes science. Hence no need to cry. Instead, do more research to find out  what went wrong. That eventually  ISRO will do.  Just did not like the scene.

Yet we sat glued to the TV in between our daily routine when the news came that The Prime Minister is just here near us in Navi Mumbai. He was here for the inauguration of the Metro project at Taloja.  He came approximately  here at  11 am to Mumbai and just nowat 3 pm  I have seen that he is at a function in Aurangabad. Good plan for the day.  Since morning he is flying like a bird to accomplish various tasks at various places in the country in a jiffy.  


The pitiful and miserable conditions of our roads prevent us from taking up any ambitious plans. Mumbai is really suffering from many problems. I think all the cities of India are really very sick for want of good healthy roads. As we all know that the roads are the veins of any city, small or big, their health is a matter of great concern. The poor public transport, the arrogance of auto fellows and their  demands for money make it very difficult for us to travel. Travelling by car is even more tiring. We are all very tired. This stress does not let us accomplish anything. To travel a distance of 5 km by bus it takes a  lot of time because of the bad roads and traffic jams. I do  feel happy if I am not travelling. Bad conditions of the  roads seems to be  a permanent feature of Mumbai. Nothing under the sky in India can repaire or build  the roads. Where to go Sakhi? Do you see any ray of hope?

Ganapati Bappa? Is that what you Murmured ?He is equally helpless dear. He too came travelling by these horrible roads. He is equally helpless. And now on Ananta chaturdashi  occasion, he will travel to his mother’s abode by taking a deep plung in some water body. Devotees may throw him down in water bodies sometimes and the God may get his organs broken. Hands lying some  where, head falling apart…  people accompanying the God have drowned may further drown.It is a very very unhappy occasion. Immersion processions will take long long hours. No one is preventing that. We should stop Ganesh Visarjan at any cost. This type of Visarjan is insult to God. Why is not there any law that prevents people from submerging idoles  in water bodies? Stronger laws are needed to protect the environment.Lal Bagcha Raja ans the Siddhi Vinayak are enough no of Gods for Mumbai.

Well,  driving home the point is that the roads have to be built properly. There just does not seem to be any responsible agency to look in to the matter. As you said Sakhi only our Bappa can accomplish this task. During the Ganesh Celebrations, people’s hearts enlarge  so enormously that they  donate huge money to various Ganesh Mandals.  Mumbai’s Lal Bagcha Raja is a very rich God. He is given  even crores of rupees by just a single devotee. I do not know if this Ganesh Manadal can function like a tust and take up socio _religious responsibility. In that case, the Siddhi Vinayak  Devstan Trust can be a better choice. They can take up the responsibility of building solid, strong and unbreakable roads every time the roads need care. The Trust, I trust can very well deliver the goods, since money is not a problem with them. Just recently the Trust provided safe drinking water to the flood affected people of Maharashtra. Lord Siddhivinayak is very very rich. God please bless the Trust with  this new awakening ,so that  that at lest next year your celebration become more peaceful and safe. It will be your blessing to all the  Mumbaikars  to trevell by  the  broad and strong roads. God please make it happen.    

"Daughter oh daughter make others happy".

Sakhi,  today I am telling you the story of a daughter.

The daughter that I am going to talk about to you, is  one with very unfortunate fate. She had all the happiness and love and care in the family. A small girl then kept very cheerful. Life was moving ahead smoothly. She could complete her education up to graduation. And was appropriately married off to a city boy.

A mother of two children, she could see that a lot of wrong things had been set in motion by her own people. It all started when she was just 10 years of age. Though her father's deeds looked very harsh and objectionable, overall life was not disturbed. She basked in childhood innocence like other girls of her age. Her father  was a mute dictator. Manipulative and selfish. No one could question him. Mother could barely prevent him from giving away the daughter. She was given in adoption against her mother’s wish. The unshakable  trust that a daughter can have in her father hid all the seriousness about the incident.

Father told mother that life sometimes created  unimaginable circumstances and that the current decision would not bring misfortune to their daughter.

 See the progressiveness of the backward mind. Daughters are rarely adopted anywhere in India. But the father showed interest and a lonely landlady was convinced and ultimately lawfully adoption procedures were completed too. The girl stayed with her original parents. Occasionally she was taken to the adopted mother. Fortunately or unfortunately the adopted mother died soon. Daughter completed  18 years of age and became the sole authority over her land. Her father and brother had somehow landed in grate financial losses and this girl was made to sell off her fields one by one to pay for the debt. Marrige to Brahmin girl is not easy because of high expectations of educated grooms. The girl got married and the in-laws were told that the girl inherited huge agricultural land since she was given in adoption. The in-laws who had pinned their hopes on the daughter-in-law’s property  started giving her harsh treatment once they realised that her property was not for their benefits. Somehow the husband did not desert her but also did not take measures to prevent his parents from harassing her. “It happens to all the girls in India. You are making a mountain of a mole. After marriage one has to adjust to people. They are my parents what can I tell them? You ignore their attitude and stay happy. Happiness stems from one’s outlook. You must change yourself.”He told her.

The father continued to enjoy the same respect and affection from the daughter. She turned to him when the in_laws tortured. And what option even she had? The In_laws were ready to throw her out. Her husbad was a meak, selfish onlooker. She did not want the status of an abandoned wife. With no means to fend for herself she questioned her father once,“tell me why are you selling my land? You only wished that I remain happy in life. How can I be happy when you are exploiting me? You can not force me to sell land. Do you realise father you have sold most of my land to pay for your son's daughters' marraiges.”She told her father. She was a little less firm. Conditioned to obey the father. She could have very well refused to sign the sales deal. She was too weak. She did not want to hurt father. Since he was her moral support as nothing was good in her in_laws house. They found fault with everything that she did. Husband brought her the “married woman” status. So he was the most important person in her life.

Father told her “Be happy. Leave everything to God. Your nices are always there to help you in your house hold core. They are much younger  than you.You call them and atleast one of them will be at your service. You have obliged them.They are happy because of you.If I ask you to sign the papers you should sign. I have my blessings to you. My love will make you rich. Life shows high and low tide bla bla bla….” What could the daughter say? Now a mother of two grown up highly educated children she is unable to forget the agony. They earn fat salaries and are settled abroad.

Parents are dead by now. Duties have to be fulfilled in life. She takes care of the in-laws who often looked down up on her. Husband’s siblings refuse to look after the parents. The father-in –law is very old now and is not keeping any hygiene. He sometimes passes excreta in the clothes itself and soaks the same dhoti in a bucket where in  other family member’s clothes are soaked.She struggles to prevent this. He does not want to be humiliated by keeping his clothes separate. He  does not want to give her a chance to avoid washing his clothes. She must serve him till death. She gets wild. Gets fits of anger. Daughter has untold miseries. She has rose to the position of a mother_ in_ law. Is trying to be on good terms with daughters in_law. She has  developed an eccentric and wild temperament over the past several years. Nothing will change now.
 According to her only death can bring some peace.

Lata Mangeshkar and Ramnath Kovind meet

Just yesterday I found on Facebook that The President of India Shree Ram Nath Kovind went to meet the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar at her residence. Lata Mangeshkar herself wrote this.Today morning all the newspapers followed suite.  It was a just a friendly gesture and the President along with his wife met Lata Tai  and enquired about her health.  And the occasion was simply a graceful bonhomie between the two dignitaries. It felt nice to see their photo.

It was no doubt a happy occasion and signalled at a special type of social interaction that we urbanites  have forgotten long ago. In cities it is not much appreciated if people go to meet someone just for the meetings’ sake. No one likes to meet any one now a days. Why blame Facebook and whats up. Much boils down to attitudes.

This news is about dignitaries. There must be  some protocol in existence when two important people meet. That cannot be violated. Dignitaries do not meet without reason. Yet our President went to meet Lata Mangeshkar and enquired about her wellbeing. This was truly  surprising, welcome gesture  and a happy occasion.It means known people can meet without particular occasion.

I always have found myself silently admiring the family of Lata Mangeshkar for the lovely familial bond. All the sisters and the only brother have followed the legacy of love towards one another.. Mangeshkar family is not just important because of their contribution to Indian music; they symbolise  a strong bond of love between brothers and sisters. They always are seen together.  During highs and lows of life brother and all the sisters stood firmly together. After the death of their father, as we all know Lata Mangeshkar did everything she could for the family making the task easier for her mother Mai Mangeshkar. On facebook it is a matter of grate interest to see the photos of Mangeshkar sisters and brother.   

The recipient of the much prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award for her music,  Lata Mangeshkar was bestowed with the honour “ Bharat Ratna” for her unforgettable contribution to the Indian music. I wonder sometimes if aliens would come in search of earth if they listen to her music in space. Excellent idea to send her music in space to attract extratrestrials. May be scientists  have already accomplished the task. Why not record her one more beautiful and send it on Mars?

Driving home the point is that the message of  sibling love, that this family has been silently spreading can not be ignored. We are drifting away from originality. Henceforth Father’s Day , Mother’s Day, Friendship Day are born the market is flooded with artificial ideas.We feel greeting one another yearly through whtsup is the ideal way.  

Raksha bandhan was just celebrated with grate fervour and pomp. The festival that symbolises the solid bond of love between brother and sister looks hollow and unreal. There are Rakhis in the market but  there is no love at home among brothers and sisters. Sisters are bent upon spoiling the happiness of one another. Brothers are no longer interested in sisterly love. To them sister is a liability. The brother who learnt to walk holding his sisters frock is ashamed of her. No occasion is left to show her down. Parents are there to make decisions marked with acute partiality. This venom has extinguished brother sister feeling. Why not do something to foster sibling love?

Why not create an award in the name of Lata Mangeshkar family for brothers and sisters in the form of  some incentives? Oh no. Let us not create another channel for corrupt tendencies. Just can’t see any bright idea. Everything looks so blank and point less. Probably conscious efforts through Fb(since it is dearer than relations ) may gear up the movement. Locating many such siblings like Mangeshkars and honouring them may spark the beginning of a new era. Can agony aunts be requested to stop accepting sibling rivalry as normal behaviour? May be something bright can come up then.

Hello, here I am at it again after a very long time. It has been almost several years  since I left this place. But Bog spot has not forgotten me. The Blogs are intact to my pleasant surprise. Meanwhile I found Face book and twitter and yet very recently I was driven to locate that instagram that is driving people crazy.I found how fondly  people are posting on these social media platforms. Thanks and many many thanks and heartfelt thanks to the technology that is really amazingly giving us the right to tell the world that we exist on the globe.Otherwise Earlier the email craze was making us mad. And before that the mobile phones to connect and contact with our acquaintances and loved ones  and convey whenever we wanted to. And before that the  paper written and posted letters.Patiently we waited for messages coming through posts. Now it is just at the click of the botton. You are everywhere on the social media platform telling the world and showing them what you are. Inviting clickes and liking others' posts.All this with a purpose to remain connected.I have also seen that on Quora people are giving and asking information. Sometimes theses are new business streatagies and sometimes just the pass time activities. We all know getting connected is comfortable.Remaining  connected on the social media needs a bit of knowledge like from  how to do and what a hash tag means to uploading photos and following others. Mastering all the technological know how is is pertinent.We have learnt it. What we have forgotten is the personal relations.Even when we meet someone we do not want to talk. " Whats up pe hai kya?" So we are a mesage driven crowd. Less of relations and more of benefits. very sorry for us all Sakhi.
